MIDNIGHT AT LA MUSEE D'ORSAY

water color and colored pencil 30x40cm.

Imagine being at La Musée d'Orsay late at night. All alone, surrounded by the grand sculpture collection. As the above work developed, that's what it reminded me of. Perhaps I should have added a mummy.

  1. The first time I went to La Musée d'Orsay I stood before the wonderful impressionists' paintings I had adored for years in books. When I was finally standing in front of them, seeing them "in person," I spontaneously began to cry. I was a bit embarrassed but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has ever done that. I love the idea of being in La Musée d'Orsay alone at night, pretending for the night that they are mine and I am theirs'. Thank you, Mary, for such a beautiful work of art.
