BIBLIOTEQUE FORNEY Paris

Biblioteque Forney Paris acrylic on canvas

This historic chateau on the rue Figuaire (Fig Tree Street)was  built during the reign of Charles V. It became the residence of  the Archbishop of Paris from 1475 until 1519.  Later, in the 15th century the 1st wife  of Henry 1V moved in after leaving her husband IV.
Many notible people have graced its doors over the centuries. The city of Paris bought it about 100 years ago and restored it.  It is now a funtional library and exposition space for the arts. I painted it this winter and now have taken away tne now Paris buildings. They didn't fit in.
