EASTER SUNDAY PARIS Ipad drawing

"Easter Sunday" digital drawing from my Ipad April 2015

I'm beginning to get the hang of drawing on my Ipad and I love it. I taught myself how while sitting alone in the gallery, waiting to be discovered,  after my very festive opening at La Galerie 3F.

GABIN AND LE MANDIGOTTE

Le Mandigotte rue Lepic
There are two rue Lepics. Rue Lepic en bas, that is, between Place Blanche - Moulin Rouge and rue des Abbesses. At one time a colorful market street. So enchanting, I swiftly moved there  from my hotel on Avenue de l'Opera to the Hotel Prima, no. 29, my second day in Paris in 1972. On my third day in Paris, I learned that you don't touch the fruit. If you want to buy an apple, you point to it, pay for it, and the vendeur will hand it over. I also learned that real men drink (or did drink) un petit Calva with their café in the morning. The Café de 2 Moulins where I discovered this became famous with the film Amelie Poulain  and that and time changed the rue Lepic en bas.

Souvenir shops and banks have replaced many of the commerçants. One can still find tous qui faut for good cooking, but it's not the same.

Rue Lepic en haut, once you've crossed rue des Abbesses, is a serpentine-cobbled-stone trail that winds upward to Sacre Coeur. It's very pretty and has the charm of old Montmartre. Le Mandigotte is one of the most charming grace à Gabin the fat Lab that sits in front and does his fair share of begging, and Vincent the owner who has the magic touch for making all the guest feel at home.

LA FONTAINE DE MARS

La Fontaine de Mars 2000

Sigun and Joe Coyle asked me to paint La Fontaine de Mars Restaurant in the year 2000. It is one of their favorite dining spots in Paris. The painting hangs in their home in Sante Fe.

I just recovered a photo of it and to be honest, I don't remember painting it. It certainly looks like my work with  my iconic Paris people. And I guess that's Joe and Sigun in the center. It almost could be Venice. Funny how all those people can walk on water.

EXHIBITION GALERIE 3F

Jean-Michael Faudemer at his best
hanging "The Good Earth"
This will be my fourth exhibition in ten years at La Galerie 3F. I love the space and Jean Michael Faudemer the owner. He is so patience with me.
Something new this time. "Reformed" water colors.
I am a devout Abstract Impressionist in every sense but format,
I am now rearranging fragments of work and printing them on the same paper as they were originally made. I then finish the new image with my own brush.
I think the impact is striking.
I will not abandon in any way the intimacy of the small abstract works. They are my jewels.

MILLION DOLLAR VIEW

I found this on the internet today in an advertisement for short term rentals in Montmartre titled Million Dollar View Paris.
From Mark and Allison visiting from Australia-

How did a typical day in The Million Dollar View start / end for you?
I could say that we left our heart in the Million Dollar View apartment. This was our second stay there and we enjoyed it immensely. The apartment is really well-sized and perfectly located and we were happy to spend our time there. We did a lot of reading and relished many bottles of Champagne & Alsace Riesling, often sitting on the balcony and enjoying the picture-postcards views over the magical Paris our apartment had to offer.

The colourful and friendly mosaics of Rue des Abbesses; Painting: Mary Blake

It was "nice" of them to use my painting with the comment from a 2012 renter. The painting was made in the year 2000. Nearly all my paintings of Paris street scene appear to the viewer that I am on the 2nd or 3rd floor. Perspective is not my forte. Here I am standing on the street.
Rue des Abbesses is still glorious, but it is now a one-way street. There is a parking lane for motor-bikes and trees that are now ten years old. Le Vrai Paris was a great degenerate bar. It is now chic and snobby. When I last painted it a few years back the clientele was so aloof I undressed them.
Thus called "La Vrai Paris à Poil".
